Title: A Random Walk with Charlie Geyer

Abstract: I first met Charlie when I was a graduate student in the University of Chicago. I have always
known that he is  very sharp and innovative and have learned much from him. Over the years, however, I began to realize how much I had missed and to regret that I had not taken full advantage of the opportunities to learn from him when I was in graduate school. I will go through a few MCMC ideas and methods that I learned from Charlie or developed under his influence. If time permits, I will also report some of our recent work on unifying priors and easing MCMC computation for Bayesian sparse linear regressions.
